Description: This map was created in May 2025 as part of a student project from the Tualatin Soil & Water Conservation District. It uses Vacant & Developed Land datasets from RLIS, one from 1990 and the other from 2021, to explore the amount of development that has occurred over time. In 2009, Portland Metro expanded their classification to the entire try-county area rather than containing it within the immediate surroundings of the Urban Growth Boundary.
The Vacant & Developed Land datasets used in this project use the same land classification methods that were developed in the 1990's, which likely results in some inaccuracies due to improved methods and remote sensing techniques since that time. This data is likely not suitable for the purpose of analysis but is presented here to give visual context for the amount development that has occurred over time.
