Description: A surface CMO represents an area where coal removal, reclamation, and related supporting activities have occurred, is occurring, is pending authorization or is authorized by the RA within a defined surface CMO or any other unpermitted area that has been identified by the RA prior to SMCRA

Description: The polygons attempt to show the extent of known underground mines in Ohio. The AUM_MINES_MRM dataset contains updated features originally extracted from the Abandoned Underground Mines information by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological Survey.Original data was provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological Survey. Funding was awarded by The U.S. Office of Surface Mining to update the dataset from a 2016 grant titled "Ohio Underground Mine GIS". Principal Authors: Ben McCament, Chris Freidhof, Lee Sorrell. Project Staff: Kate Blyth, Eugene Hancock, Gracie Keyes, Jackie Kloepfer, Sarah Maj, Nora Sullivan, Paul Verga.

Description: Maps and data associated with oil-and-gas wells represent one of the largest datasets at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. This GIS data layer contains a direct line indictor of directional/horizontal wells in Ohio. The feature is derived from coordinates obtained from the Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management (DOGRM) oil and gas well database – Risk Based Data Management System (RBDMS). The RBDMS database has a long history and is a comprehensive collection of well data from historic pre-1980 paper well records (digitized by the Division of Geological Survey (DGS)) to post-1980 DOGRM database solutions.Since 1860, it is estimated that more than 267,000 oil-and-gas wells have been drilled in Ohio.

Description: This ground water resources theme shows an estimate of sustainable yield available from the aquifers in the area. Individual well yields may vary. It was digitized in vector format from a county map at a scale of 1:63360.
Description: Ground Water Pollution Potential (DRASTIC) for Columbiana County. This coverage was digitized in a vector mode from a county map at a scale of 1:63360, utilizing ARC/INFO software by Real Estate and Land Management. Ground water pollution potential maps represent a measure of the relative susceptibility of an area to pollution of the ground water. Factors such as depth to water, net recharge, etc. are given a numeric rating and a composite index is developed. This index is called the ground water pollution potential (GWPP) index. A high GWPP index indicates a high potential for pollution of the ground water. For additional information see Ground Water Pollution Potential of Columbiana County Ohio, 1994, Report No. 35, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water.
Description: Known locations of water wells within Ohio. This information was supplied to the Ohio DNR by water well contractors per the Ohio Revised Code 1521.05. Water well data was first submitted to the state back in the late 1940's. This dataset is a small subset of all the water well records maintained ODNR-Division of Soil and Water. This application is intended to illustrate water wells within the State of Ohio, by status and type. These data are derived from multiple sources and the locational quality may be varied. Location and parcel boundaries may require additional research and/or professional surveying to achieve desired accuracy. Less than 55% of the well records in the ODNR well record database have latitude and longitude values and thus only those records with known coordinates will show up on this map. Please use this search along with the Custom Data Search to ensure the largest number of records is returned for your area of interest.
Description: The ODNR_LANDS feature class is a generalized digital representation of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources land facilities, and contains property type and ownership classifications in addition to MARCS beat information.

Description: The National Center for Education Statistics’ (NCES) Education Demographic and Geographic Estimate (EDGE) program develops annually updated point locations (latitude and longitude) for public elementary and secondary schools included in the NCES Common Core of Data (CCD). The CCD program annually collects administrative and fiscal data about all public schools, school districts, and state education agencies in the United States. The data are supplied by state education agency officials and include basic directory and contact information for schools and school districts, as well as characteristics about student demographics, number of teachers, school grade span, and various other administrative conditions. The CCD program also provides fiscal data about school district revenues and expenditures. CCD school and agency point locations are derived from reported information about the physical location of schools and agency administrative offices. The NCES EDGE program collaborates with the U.S. Census Bureau’s Education Demographic, Geographic, and Economic Statistics (EDGE) Branch to develop point locations for schools reported in the annual CCD directory file. The point locations in this data layer were developed from the 2017-2018 CCD collection. For more information about NCES school point data, see: https://nces.ed.gov/programs/edge/Geographic/SchoolLocations.
Description: The Private School Universe Survey (PSS) is conducted to generate biennial data on the total number of private schools, teachers, and students, and to build an accurate and complete list of private schools to serve as a sampling frame for NCES surveys of private schools. The PSS school location and associated geographic area assignments are derived from reported information about the physical location of private schools. The school geocode file includes supplemental geographic information for the universe of schools reported in the PSS school sample, and they can be integrated with the survey files through use of institutional indentifiers included in both sources.
Copyright Text: PSS products are not copyrighted. These products are free to use in a product or publication, however acknowledgement must be given to the National Center for Education Statistics as the source. The point information in the PSS school shapefile is for statistical research purposes only. Coordinates in the shapefile have six implied decimal places, but the positional accuracy of these coordinates may not be as great as the six decimal places suggest.
Description: This data set represents the extent, approximate location and type of wetlands and deepwater habitats in the United States and its Territories. These data delineate the areal extent of wetlands and surface waters as defined by Cowardin et al. (1979). The National Wetlands Inventory - Version 2, Surface Waters and Wetlands Inventory was derived by retaining the wetland and deepwater polygons that compose the NWI digital wetlands spatial data layer and reintroducing any linear wetland or surface water features that were orphaned from the original NWI hard copy maps by converting them to narrow polygonal features. Additionally, the data are supplemented with hydrography data, buffered to become polygonal features, as a secondary source for any single-line stream features not mapped by the NWI and to complete segmented connections. Wetland mapping conducted in WA, OR, CA, NV and ID after 2012 and most other projects mapped after 2015 were mapped to include all surface water features and are not derived data. The linear hydrography dataset used to derive Version 2 was the U.S. Geological Survey's National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). Specific information on the NHD version used to derive Version 2 and where Version 2 was mapped can be found in the 'comments' field of the Wetlands_Project_Metadata feature class. Certain wetland habitats are excluded from the National mapping program because of the limitations of aerial imagery as the primary data source used to detect wetlands. These habitats include seagrasses or submerged aquatic vegetation that are found in the intertidal and subtidal zones of estuaries and near shore coastal waters. Some deepwater reef communities (coral or tuberficid worm reefs) have also been excluded from the inventory. These habitats, because of their depth, go undetected by aerial imagery. By policy, the Service also excludes certain types of "farmed wetlands" as may be defined by the Food Security Act or that do not coincide with the Cowardin et al. definition. Contact the Service's Regional Wetland Coordinator for additional information on what types of farmed wetlands are included on wetland maps. This dataset should be used in conjunction with the Wetlands_Project_Metadata layer, which contains project specific wetlands mapping procedures and information on dates, scales and emulsion of imagery used to map the wetlands within specific project boundaries.
