Description: During the warm summer months, San Diego County offers Cool Zones as places where residents can escape from the hot temperatures. The Cool Zones target people, such as seniors, who usually stay indoors during hot summer days. The program began out of concern for seniors and disabled persons whose health problems could easily worsen in hot weather. Sites include senior centers, libraries and malls - even courthouses.
