Tualatin's Wetlands Protection District contains in excess of 300 acres of highly desirable developed and developable land within which there are situated certain natural marshes and wetlands. These natural marshes and wetlands constitute a wildlife habitat and natural resource of important physical, biological, recreational, aesthetic, educational and economic value to the existing and future residents of the City of Tualatin. The Wetlands Protection District (WPD) was established as an overriding planning district classification in the expressed intent of protecting the natural marshes and wetlands within the district while simultaneously permitting and encouraging development and use of the lands adjacent to those areas.
