It is the policy of Washington County to protect and enhance Significant Natural Areas. There are several significant natural areas in the Rural/Natural Resource Area of Washington County. These unique areas have recreational, scientific and educational value, and deserve protection for continued use by present and future generations.
Type of natural feature:
WAW = Water Area Wetland. 100-year flood plain, drainage hazard areas, ponds, except those already developed.
WAWFWH = Water Area Wetland & Fish Wildlife Habitat. Water-related areas that are also fish and wildlife habitat, including the Riparian Corridor.
OS & OSbk = Open Space
WH = Upland Wildlife Habitat. Identified sensitive habitats, including forested areas coincidental with water areas and wetlands.
SNA = Significant Natural Area. Sites of special importance, in their natural condition, for their ecological, scientific, and educational value.
SH = Safe Harbor (Cedar Mills-Cedal Hills CP)
SWHcu = Significant Wildlife Habitat (Cedar Mills-Cedar Hills CP)
